Fab meeting with Mexborough Academy today planning community partnership activities.

Mexborough First Councillors Bev Chapman and Sean Gibbons met with Gail Taylor, Community Lead at Mexborough Academy today along with Glyn Smith, DMBC Stronger Communities Co-ordinator to discuss potential community projects in Mexborough and how we can all work together.

The meeting was a huge success and we have discussed and agreed a number of partnership opportunities which enables Mexborough Academy to work alongside the local community in Mexborough.

Our first community event will take place on Fri 4th March where 25-30 Mexborough Academy pupils will join local community groups and volunteers e.g. Royal British Legion, Mexborough Action Team, Mexborough Ferryboat Association etc along with local residents, Councillors, DMBC Stronger Communities Team and St Leger Homes in a community ‘Clean Up For The Queen’ campaign.

The campaign supports the upcoming Queen’s 90th Birthday and offers an excellent opportunity for community partners to com together and clean up our communities.

If anyone would like to join us on Fri 4th March, please contact us at info@mexboroughfirst.org.uk or post on our Mexborough First Facebook page..

We are proposing to meet at Mexborough Library at 9.30am where health and safety information will be provided along with litter-pickers and bags.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear and some gloves.

The event will run until 3.30pm. Refreshments will be provided by Food AWARE and Tesco at Wath-upon-Dearne.
