Update on the Mexborough Masterplan Consultation

***VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE***
Cllr Gibbons & Cllr Chapman have just finished a scheduled meeting with senior Doncaster Council director and officers to review the Mexborough Masterplan/Levelling Up plans and public feedback to date.
As confirmed last week, due to the sheer number of grave concerns and complaints received from local residents & businesses regarding the proposed changes to Greens Way and town centre (and lack of robust traffic surveys) Cllr Gibbons HAS FORMALLY OBJECTED TO THE PROPOSED REDUCTION TO A SINGLE LANE CARRIGEWAY (along with other concerns regarding proposed traffic access routes on Bank Street etc).
As a result of objections raised, it has now been agreed to investigate the congestion issues on Doncaster Road/Pastures Rd traffic light and to cost out proposed traffic flow improvements and link in with the proposed Mex Masterplan/Levelling Up improvements.
There will also be another traffic survey undertaken on Greens Way, reducing to a single carriageway, to further test potential traffic impact by the proposals. Further details on this will be released in the coming weeks.
The planned City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) and subsequent Levelling Up Fund (LUF3) allocated funding forms part of the ‘Mexborough Masterplan’ to make it easier & safer for people to get into and around Mexborough town centre as well as improvements to the High Street to further support businesses.
A full review of all feedback received will then be considered w/c 5th Aug with senior director/officers and Cllr Gibbons/Mexborough First will continue to raise formal objections to the authority on behalf of local residents & businesses.
