It was a very different Remembrance Sunday at the war memorial in Mexborough this morning due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Huge thanks to The Royal British Legion Mexborough Swinton & Kilnhurst for coordinating a social distanced event and to everyone who attended who followed the strict guidelines.
We observed the usual two-minute silence at 11 am and then a few wreaths were laid by key partners. Thank you to others who have been visiting the war memorial intermittently and laying wreaths following social distancing rules.
Thank you to the majority of people who have commemorated today’s remembrance at home / remotely.
A special thanks to Charles Prouten for again fulfilling his role as Poppy Appeal organiser for Mexborough.
Also special thanks to New Pastures Primary School for an excellent display of poppies and to Tracey Gibbons for decorating key entrance points into town with home-made poppies and delivering over 100 out to local residents and businesses over the last couple of days.

For your tomorrow, we gave our today”
