‘Keep Britain Tidy – Great British Spring Clean’ partnership events – Fri 3rd/Sat 4th March 2017
Clean-up partnership events recently took place with Mexborough Academy, Canal & River Trust, Mexborough Ferryboat Association, DMBC Stronger Communities, Mexborough Councillors, Royal British Legion & other volunteers.
Mexborough Academy students carried out a litter-pick near to school on Fri 3rd March 10am -12pm with DMBC Stronger Communities team and collected eight bags of litter/rubbish.
The main event took place on Sat 4th March 10am – 1pm across various access points/stretches of Mexborough Canal off Doncaster Road, Ferryboat Lane, Station Road and Swinton Road.
15 volunteers came together and collected a whopping 42 bags of litter/rubbish on the day….so that’s 50 BAGS OF LITTER/RUBBISH over the two days!
Refreshments were provided by local social enterprise Food AWARE CIC.
