We’re are very pleased that this essential 221 Stagecoach service was finally reinstated on Friday (28th May) evening following significant intervention and persistent concerns raised by Mexborough First Cllrs –
Quote from senior director of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) received from Stagecoach –
“We have been in contact with Barney Daniels from Cadent Gas has been liaising with ourselves to get the buses serving Coniston Court area again.”
“He has been working to get the road-made bus safe with the road works on the road. We have been and tested the route with the type of vehicle that is used for the service, and we can confirm that based on the test we will resume serving Coniston Court from 17:15 today (28.05.2021).”
“This route test was carried out with no workmen present, however, based on the assurances from Barney Daniels that the route will remain operational when the workmen return hopefully, we will not have further issues.”
We will be situation monitoring closely from Tue morning when the contractors return to the site to continue these essential works and we are assured that the essential 221 services to so many will not suffer further disruption.
**Update June 1st**
Latest on the 221 services….so far so good!!
Rest assured that lessons have been learned from this debacle!
Doncaster Council has held further discussions and agreed with Cadent further planned gas works are to be suspended and reviewed with regard to working methods/traffic management etc., possibly to be undertaken in the school summer holidays after consultation.
DMBC has established better communication protocols between SYPTE (and the bus operators) and the local authority should there be a need for suspension of any services within the Borough.
