It was a great pleasure to support the latest town clean-up and a huge thanks to everyone who came down to volunteer for the first 2016 ‘Mexborough Ferryboat Association’ Ferryboat Slipway/Canal clean-up & environmental works today.
We managed to pick up over 10 black bags of litter/rubbish & cut-back a load of brambles and over-growth in readiness for raised beds to be installed in the spring.
We also picked up A LOT of dog mess on the footbridge and canal footpath (look at at the yellow bags in the attached photo!) and put some posters up to encourage dog walkers to ‘Pick Up or Pay Up’! Enforcement officers will be in this area very shortly so make sure you don’t get fined!
Great to see the Snowdrops growing nicely now that the Japenese Knotweed has been treated and cut-back.
Another volunteer day will be arranged in mid-Feb ready for the planting so keep checking in on the ‘Mexborough Ferryboat Association’ Facebook page by clicking here.
