Extremely disappointing news re Mexborough being knocked back for the Levelling Up Fund (LUF) – Round 2 as part of the Doncaster North bid of which £15m of the £20m bid (+ additional £2m) would have come into Mexborough.
However, it wasn’t to be and now the Culture Secretary stating that Donacaster already had a load of money in LUF – Round 1 so wouldn’t have been awarded any further funding in Round 2!
And the Prime Minister’s constituency of Richmond was awarded over £19m in LUF – Round 2!
Hey ho…very disheartening but we are not giving up!
We currently have several million pounds currently ring fenced to support transport infrastructure in Mexborough and will continually push for the remaining much needed investment for our town from other funding pots e.g. Towns Fund.
We will be meeting with senior officers in Doncaster Council in the near future to assess the current situation and a revised approach for Mexborough Masterplan/Futures.
The fight goes on!
