Mexborough First are currently working with Mexborough Action Team (MAT), our local DMBC Stronger Communities Team, St Leger Homes, Mexborough Ferryboat Association, Royal British Legion and other community partners/volunteers to clean up our town.
Photos below are before/after of the area leading down from Barbers Path towards the Maple Road Garages site which was cleansed yesterday. The garage site has recently been sold by St Leger Homes and will hopefully be privately developed in the near future (and kept clean and tidy in the meantime!).
As it is the Queen’s 90th Birthday this year, there is a national campaign called ‘Clean Up For The Queen’ taking place on Fri 4t, Sat 5th and Sun 6th March.
We are using this opportunity to clean up our local communities and get as many volunteers as possible helping to maximise the impact in our local areas. DMBC staff and St Leger officers will also be on hand that weekend to help out and St Leger Homes are providing a community skip (but this must be located near SLH properties locally).
Please let us know if you are available to volunteer anytime on 4th-6th March by replying to this post below and also let us know any ‘hot-spot’ areas in Mexborough which require a good clean-up.
Please can you share this post and encourage others to take part.
Finally, those who drop litter or let their dogs foul public places or park illegally be aware as DMBC have recently appointed a private contractor Kingdom Security to conduct Environmental Enforcement and Parking Enforcement across Doncaster. Enforcement officers are already in post and have received DMBC training with 13 enforcement notices issued in Mexborough over the last couple of weeks.
You have been warned.
